I grew up in New York City, putting on shows for my parents and their friends. Both of my parents were professional musicians and my father in particular loved musical theater, so a few times a year he’d take us to see Broadway shows. He taught me how to wait at the stage door afterwards to catch a glimpse of the stars, like Yul Brenner, Angela Lansbury and Cher. So, it’s no big surprise that I wanted to be an actress when I grew up. When I started developing other interests and eventually became a photographer, I naturally gravitated towards doing actor headshots. I love actors and performers. I just get them.
While I pride myself on my technical expertise, my headshots are not just about great lighting. Above all I care about authenticity and connection in my work. I want the viewer to be drawn in by compelling and meaningful eye contact. I think that’s what makes my headshots stand out to casting directors.
A few other things you might want to know about me: I live in Brooklyn with my yellow lab Charlie (I’m a big animal lover!) I love documentaries and reading. I’m working on a memoir, and I practice drawing and painting. You’ll see my art supplies and piles of books all over the apartment. I love being out in nature, and swimming in fresh water lakes and ponds! When I’m not shooting headshots, I’m out on the streets photographing the people in my neighborhood or traveling to some exotic country.
